A California Garden in the Spirit of William Morris

Joyful Garden is a love letter to the Arts and Crafts movement — and to the living garden that inspired it. When the squirrels in my California backyard began stealing strawberries just as Morris's thrushes had done in his Thames Valley garden 140 years ago, the connection was irresistible. Every motif — the California squirrel, strawberry plants, opo vines, grape hyacinth, and songbirds — was photographed in our own backyard and drawn from life. A California reimagining of the great Arts and Crafts tradition.
