A little about my story…

Hi, I’m Jean Pham, the artist and designer behind The Bright Leaf Design.

I’m a surface pattern designer creating richly detailed botanical and decorative artwork inspired by historic textiles, ornamental art, and the quiet beauty of nature. My work blends influences from both Eastern and Western aesthetics, drawing from everything from Arts & Crafts and Art Nouveau to traditional botanical illustration and decorative interiors.

Originally from Vietnam and now based in the San Francisco Bay Area, my creative journey has always been rooted in making by hand. Long before discovering surface pattern design, I spent years sewing, embroidering, knitting, and creating handmade goods — experiences that continue to shape the layered and handcrafted feeling of my work today.

Many of my collections begin with a simple moment of curiosity: wandering through botanical gardens, admiring antique textiles, sketching flowers, or getting lost in the intricate details of historic interiors and decorative objects. I’m especially drawn to patterns that feel timeless, romantic, and full of story — designs that bring warmth, beauty, and character into everyday spaces.

Before fully stepping into the world of surface pattern design, I earned a degree in Health Sciences and later founded a children’s clothing brand called Ellie & Tilly. Today, in addition to running The Bright Leaf Design, I also co-own a print and production business, giving me a strong understanding of color, scale, print processes, and production quality across a variety of surfaces and materials.

My artwork has been licensed and featured through collaborations with companies including RJR Fabrics and Loomwell Home Goods, with a growing focus on wallpaper, fabric, stationery, and home décor applications.

I’m always excited to collaborate with brands and manufacturers seeking thoughtfully crafted patterns with a timeless and distinctive point of view.

Thank you for visiting my little corner of the creative world!
