From family travels to watercolor paintings and surface patterns.
Some of my favorite creative ideas begin far away from my drawing desk.
Coastal Blooms was inspired by a family trip to the East Coast, where the beauty of the landscape, charming surroundings, and summer flowers stayed with me long after we returned home.
I have always been drawn to botanical details, especially the graceful shapes of flowers and foliage. There is something about coastal gardens that feels both relaxed and romantic, where blossoms mingle naturally and every corner seems to offer something beautiful to discover.
When I returned to my studio, I began translating those impressions into watercolor. Hydrangeas, morning glories, delicate wildflowers, and trailing greenery gradually found their way onto my paper.
I wanted to preserve the softness of the watercolor, the gentle movement of the vines, and the quiet charm of flowers growing freely.
As the illustrations developed, they became a family of coordinating surface patterns. Larger botanical compositions were paired with smaller florals, delicate sprigs, and timeless stripes, each designed to complement the others.
I imagined these designs bringing the feeling of a coastal garden indoors, through wallpaper, curtains, upholstery, and other home textiles.
Coastal Blooms is more than a collection of floral patterns. It is a little piece of a family journey, translated into colors, brushstrokes, and patterns that I hope will bring warmth and beauty into everyday spaces.
